POWER Philadelphia was launched in September 2011 by leaders from 37 diverse congregations representing more than 25,000 people who have come together across lines of race, neighborhood and faith tradition. POWER Philadelphia has become a key leader on multiple social, economic and racial justice campaigns, bringing a moral voice to politics that has resulted in concrete policy wins for working people including an expanded living wage for outsourced city workers, racial equity in school funding, increasing local solar energy jobs, returning city schools to local control, and ending the city’s cash bail system.

POWER Philadelphia has run some of the city’s largest get-out-the-vote efforts including work in 2017 that trained community residents to have live conversations with more than 32,000 infrequent voters. Since its founding, POWER Philadelphia has grown to 50 active congregations representing more than 30,000 diverse Philadelphians.
