POWER Interfaith Celebrates House Passage of House Bill 2370: A Long-Term Promise to Pennsylvania’s Children

Philadelphia, PA – June 10, 2024 – POWER Interfaith, a key leading group in the fight for education equity in Pennsylvania for over 10 years, applauds the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for passing House Bill 2370. This critical legislation represents a long-term solution and a promise to our children: the Commonwealth is finally invested in their public education.

“The passage of House Bill 2370 is a victory for all Pennsylvanians, but most importantly, for our children,” states Marlene Armato, community advocate and board member of POWER Interfaith. “This bill delivers on the Commonwealth’s responsibility to provide quality public education, ensuring a brighter future for millions of students and their families.”

The Time for Action is Now: Urging the Senate to Pass HB2370 and Invest in Public Education

While the House’s passage of House Bill 2370 is a significant step forward, the fight for quality public education funding isn’t over. We urge lawmakers in the Senate to finish the job and make investing in public education a top priority this legislative session.

Solutions are within reach! We call on the Senate to take the following actions:

  • Pass House Bill 2370: This critical legislation addresses the unconstitutional underfunding of public schools, ensuring equitable resources for all students.
  • Pass the proposed $1.1 billion budget for public education: This budget invests in our children’s education, providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
  • Reject vouchers and other schemes: These initiatives drain resources from public schools, further widening the gap between wealthy and underfunded districts.

Together, we can build a brighter future for Pennsylvania’s children by prioritizing public education.
