We are deeply saddened and outraged by the senseless and brutal murder of Raheem Jefferson outside the Al-Aqsa Islamic Society in Philadelphia. This act of violence is a heinous crime that strikes at the heart of our community and undermines the safety and well-being of all Philadelphians.

No one should fear for their life while practicing their faith. This attack on a place of worship is an attack on our shared humanity. We stand in solidarity with the Muslim community and all those affected by this tragedy.

We call upon law enforcement to swiftly bring the perpetrator to justice. We urge our community to come together to denounce violence and to support one another during this difficult time.

We must work collectively to create a society of siblings where everyone feels safe and respected, regardless of their faith or background.

POWER Interfaith will continue to advocate for policies and create spaces that promote peace, understanding, and justice for all.

In solidarity,

Rev. Dr. Gregory Edwards
Interim Executive Director
