Job Overview:

The purpose of the Formation Team at POWER Interfaith is to develop the leadership of staff and volunteer leaders so that we all feel equipped to advance POWER’s mission of racial and economic justice for all on a livable planet! The Formation Team offers training and coaching on organizing skills, rooted in our respective faiths and shared values, with a racial equity lens and a vision for healing and liberation.

The Leadership Development & Anti-Racism Trainer collaborates with the Trainer & Coach to offer POWER staff and volunteer leaders what they need to show up in their organizing as their most whole, authentic and powerful selves. This includes planning and leading training in Faith-Based Community Organizing, anti-racism, collective liberation and onboarding training for new organizing staff and volunteer leaders. Our goal is to create a learning and leadership development culture within POWER to support staff and leaders to organize powerfully across race, faith, age, class, and geographical differences.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading anti-racism and anti-oppression training and collaborating on a vision and plan for an anti-racism training plan across the organization.
  • Planning and coordinating bi-weekly training for all POWER staff.
  • Co-leading a monthly orientation session for new volunteer leaders.
  • Co-leading a 3-day onboarding community organizing training for new organizing staff as needed.
  • Co-designing a Faith-Based Community Organizing Fundamentals training series for volunteer leaders.
  • Scheduling, communication, and data tasks to support Formation Team events.
  • Updating, creating, and integrating training materials and resources into the work of POWER Teams.
  • Integrating trauma-informed healing practices into all programs and training design. (Ex: psychological safety, nervous system regulation, resolving trauma activation during and after gatherings, teaching and using practices to sustain resilience in organizing).
  • Participating in professional development.
  • If desired, coaching staff and leaders on organizing skills, anti-racism, and collective liberation.

Qualifications:

  • Must have significant experience with receiving and leading anti-racism trainings. Ideally but not necessarily the applicant also has experience leading anti-oppression trainings on gender, sexuality, faith, class and/or ability based oppression and resistance.
  • Must have at least two years experience in community organizing
  • Must have a passion for facilitation and leadership development
  • Have or be interested in learning a trauma-informed approach to organizing and justice work.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • A Partime, non-exempt position (20hr per week)

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and/or voice to type or otherwise communicate electronically. Some travel will be required.
