Community Advocate

A Community Advocate is someone who has a heart for change and a desire to teach and educate those around them. POWER is hiring Community Advocates, who will focus on educating community members on upcoming elections, the importance of voting and getting community members registered to vote. We can have an effect on our world, through proper knowledge and full community engagement.

Position

The purpose of this position is to increase community engagement and awareness. POWER is hiring Community Advocates, who through local organizing, are committed to getting all of our brothers and sisters registered to vote and ensuring they are informed about their rights and power as individuals. Through community outreach events, door knocking, field canvassing, and other avenues such as phone calls and texts, Community Advocates will be responsible for educating and dispelling myths that have negatively impacted our communities.

Requirements

Must be able to walk long distances.
Must be willing to work outdoors- exceptions being extreme inclement weather.
Must be willing to learn and teach others.

The Community Advocate position is a part-time/seasonal position up to 30 hours a week, with a pay of $20.00 per hour. Canvass operation typically runs from 11am to 6pm, including weekends.
