SUMMARY:Northwest Philly Education Justice Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:In February 2023\, Pennsylvania’s education funding system was ruled unconstitutional. While last year’s budget included nearly $1 billion in additional funding—allowing schools to make meaningful improvements—it’s only a fraction of the $5 billion needed to ensure adequate resources for every student. POWER and other local organizations have called for the full $5 billion to be legislated into law\, but so far\, no commitment has been made. \nWe’ll be speaking directly with State Representatives Andre Carroll\, Tarik Khan and Chris Rabb about the urgent need for fair public school funding. We call on parents\, students\, faith leaders and constituents to consider the impact of Philadelphia’s housing crisis on the stability of our community schools while sharing their stories and concerns.  \nCome prepared to: \n🔹 Share your stories and concerns directly with state legislators.\n🔹 Stand with our community to fight for education justice.
