Networked Geothermal

Winning a Just Transition to Renewable Heat for Our Buildings

Many of us in Philly are asking if our public utility PGW can pilot networked geothermal (AKA networked ground source heat pumps). The system lowers emissions and energy bills for customers while providing heating and cooling, and protecting good union jobs.

We invite you to join us in learning about exciting projects that are underway in Massachusetts. HEET and environmental + community allies have moved MA gas utilities to begin piloting efficient, fossil-free networked geothermal heating/cooling infrastructure. Gas worker unions are working to ensure their members participate in building and operating the new geothermal systems.

Across the world, people are working to defend a livable climate, improve health, and advance environmental & economic justice by pressing for large-scale changes in the way our homes and other buildings are heated. Here in Philadelphia, officials and organizations of many kinds have begun a conversation about new directions for our municipally owned gas utility.

This webinar will advance that important conversation. We’ll hear about the progress that is happening in MA, and we’ll explore how we can apply lessons from MA here in Philly.
